Raising Yousuf and Noor: diary of a Palestinian mother
I am a Palestinian from Gaza. I am a journalist. I am a mother. I am a Muslim. This blog is about the trials of raising my children between spaces and identities; displacement and occupation; and everything that entails from potty training to border crossings. My husband is a Palestinian refugee denied his right of return to Palestine, and thus OUR right to family life. Together, we endure a lot, and the personal becomes political. This is our story.

May you and your family enjoy a peaceful day, Laila.
Laila - if you are bored......
I was wondering if you could fill me/us in on the regular sources of news in Gaza. Obviously you have cable and access to many Arabic and English news broadcasts but which newspapers are most commonly read there and how do they present current events?
As to rainy day activities with Yousuf, wish I could come up with some but once there are two and you are stuck with them alone constantly that old standby, cartoons becomes the norm.
Hi Lisoosh
they are mainly arabic sources-al quds newspaper, and al-ayyam are the big two. THere is also the smaller al-ayyam al-jadeeda, then there is a Hamas weekly called "al-risala" though it is not mainstream. Most the sites are online as well, though none in english. many people rely on haaretz as well. THe mai two papers I mentioned are fairly progoverment, but aren't necessarily categorized into left and right like haaretz and jpost.
