Images of Palestine in exile

Images from the Wavel Camp in Baalbeck, Lebanon; here Palestine is always within reach, but the residents of the camp can never grasp it, can never meet it; like night and day-there is a brief time where the two overllap-by way of a visitor from abroad; the spouse of a camp resident, with Palestinian Authority papers, and so on.

View from the rooftop of Yassine's house in the Wavel Refugee Camp, Baalbeck.

I have been lurking for a while, but for some reason this post with the photos of the women was compelling. so much strength is needed to endure this.

Thanks for the pictures Laila! They do so much remind me of Dheisheh in Bethlehem ... same hopeless situation, same alley ways, same sentiments!
It's heartbreaking.

Dear Laila,

I have never met you but I feel as if through reading your posts that I would recognize you in an instant. I thank you for your dedicated posting. Your family is in my thoughts often.

Palestinians are not after Lebanese citizenships; If only there were treated like any other Arab/foreigners living in Lebanon, things would have been totally different. It's so pathetic how they're living in there, deprived from the least of their human rights.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, Laila! I am shocked at dkjda's comment on why are the Lebanese so cruel: Would it not be right to say in the first place why are the israelis so cruel to not grant the rightful owners a return to their land?!!! Home is where the heart is ...

Me again Laila:
I really want to encourage to keep going. I don't know about you, but I get horrible emails from israelis saying I am anti-semitic, just for posting a reaction now and again on your blog!
