Israel's psychological warfare

We've heard about the flyers the Israeli army is littering Gaza with-telling people Hamas is to blame for their woes, not their f-16s and cluster bombs.

Now, they have taken to robo-calling the citizens of Gaza ala Hilary Clinton, at all times of the night and day.

My father has received a number of calls- including one as we finsihed another CNN interview, and we were on Skype. He tried to put the phone on speaker for me. The rough translations:

"urgent message: warning to the citizens of Gaza. Hamas is using you as human shields. Do not listen to them. Hamas has abandoned you and are hiding in their shelters. Give up now.."

He hung up in disgust, not wanting to hear the rest.

The army has also been calling people to let them know their houses will be bombed.

People have stopped answering their phones now, and do not take calls from unknown numbers, says my father.

Psychological warfare: pictures my father took of TV messages the Israeli army has been broadcasting on Palestinian stations. The captions say: "Hamas leadership: your time is running out".

The Israel Proganda machine has always been well honed. It is why all of us should read and view everything so critically and not passively accept terms/labels given to groups and individuals. You are right to refer to Israel as the terrorists in this situation.

Your CNN interviews are always with bravery and dignity, well done Laila and Moussa.

I love your Blog, I added it to my Palestine blog, and my family blog.

My husband is from Palestine, but his parents live in Lebanon, I pray that inshallah the fighting ends.

There never was an Arab nation called Palestine. Stop supporting terrorists dedicated to killing Jews and there can finally be such a place. You won't post this because you are a phony and a terrorist supporter.

Following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, the 1949 Armistice Agreements between Israel and neighboring Arab states eliminated Palestine as a distinct territory. With the establishment of Israel, the remaining lands were divided amongst Egypt, Syria and Jordan. The Arab governments at this point refused to set up a State of Palestine.
The region as of today: Israel, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights

In addition to the UN-partitioned area it was allotted, Israel captured 26% of the Mandate territory west of the Jordan river. Jordan captured and annexed about 21% of the Mandate territory, known today as the West Bank. Jerusalem was divided, with Jordan taking the eastern parts, including the Old City, and Israel taking the western parts. The Gaza Strip was captured by Egypt.

For a description of the massive population movements, Arab and Jewish, at the time of the 1948 war and over the following decades, see Palestinian exodus and Jewish exodus from Arab lands.

Thank you very much for your description, what's happening there is just inacceptable. They are trying to hide it by not allowing reporters in, but thanks to your blog all the world can know. Please check this link, they used your blog to describe what's happening in Gaza in a very well read French Newspaper --http://www.lemonde.fr/la-guerre-de-gaza/article/2009/01/05/sur-les-blogs-de-gaza-chronique-d-une-vie-en-etat-de-siege_1137851_1137859.html--All of the word eyes are towards you, people pray for your all around the world. This is extremely hard and unfair, but please hang on. Soon these crimes that can only be described as a second holocaust will be over. Allah m3kom!

If it weren't for Hamas, Israel wouldn't have gone into Gaza. There is so much potential for the Israelis and the Palestinians to get along, but Hama doesn't want that. Why don't the people in Gaza stand up against Hamas?

Unbelievable. Sad. Horrific. Pathetic. Words fail me. Do you know how to contact Heba Zayyan who has the blog 'Contemplating from Gaza'? She and I wrote a paper together for an academic book and I've not been able to get in touch with her. She told me that she knows you through your blog. I'm very worried about her and her family. Thank and and I hope that your family in Gaza is safe. Cindy

she would not post my past comments because she is a terrorist sympathizer. hamas is the only one to blame for the suffering that is happening today.
egypt and jordan live in peace with israel because THEY DO NOT ATTACK it! how can you not understand this! give peace and you shall find it. do not expect any country to allow you to indiscriminately fire rockets at their civilians and not respond. earth to laila: your peoples hatred is causing the suffering and death OF YOUR OWN CHILDREN. do not make them pay!!! direct your energy away from terrorism & create your own great country next to israel. their kids & yours deserve to sing songs together, not dodge each others bullets. the fact you are now enjoying the fruits of this great country, with your terrorist sympathies, is disturbing.
