You do not really deserve any comments.
You are really like them.
Your people deserve Hamas as a govermment, but not my money.
Europe are not going to give you any money, and as much as Hamas said they also do not need money from Europe and from USA,money from devil they said.
Better for us.
Let´s see the next step,them.

I wish the point of that cartoon was more obvious to people. This is not the first time that one side adopts its adversary's position and is suddenly believed to be in the wrong. Here is a link to some very interesting recent remarks from Noam Chomsky on the subject of the US and Israeli governments adopting the "depraved" position of bin Laden regarding Palestinian civilians as "fair targets". It is suggested that Bin Laden, in turn, adopted this posture from the last half-century of US policy. (Link)

Laila,

I appreciate your blog. It is well written and compelling. I am especially appreciative of the fact that you allow diverse comments; though I doubt that I will comment often as I don't think I have anything new or more to add. However, I just wanted to let you know that you have another person who visits to learn a little about life in Gaza.

First of all, this cartoon comes from an ISRAELI newspaper - The Jerusalem Post to be exact.

Second, let's look at a few things here. Khaled Mashal was in Iran recently. He was probably looking for funds - and why not ? If Israeli refuses to give the P.A the taxes it has collected for them ( this is the P.A's money by the way,and NOT Israels, Israel was just doing the collecting), haven't they got a right to go looking elsewhere ?

Who is pushing the Hamas to Iran ?
Israel, by not giving them their own money.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a Hamas supporter, but I feel that we must give the Hamas a chance. If anyone can make order on the Palestinian streets today, it is the Hamas. If anyone can promise quiet ( not a peace treaty) between the PA and Israel, it is the Hamas.

The more we( Israelis ) rejected the Hamas, the more they will go to countries like Iran.

I also think Hamas should be given a chance. And I am not an Hamas supporter, either. During the Intifadah..,when suicide bombers were exploding in Israel , the EU never faltered with it`s millions. Now that Hamas has kept the cease fire for a year..., no help for the new Hamas Government. People say Hamas should recognize Israel But Fatah did ever recognize Israel ? Judging for the Fatah charter it did not . In practice neither Hamas nor Fatah did ever recognize Israel . I really dont understand US,europe policies.

People keep talking about Hamas being 'pushed' to countries like Iran. The reality is that if Hamas recognized the state of Israel and agreed to at least discuss peace (not even having to agree to any particular terms), they would be eligible for a significant amount of aid from western nations. The fact that they refuse to do this should not be interpreted as them being 'pushed' by anyone.

Hamas is also being entirely unrealistic. They cannot defeat Israel militarily and Palestinians could use all the aid they can get. To the extent they refuse to do this, they are simply being selfish and absurd.

Hmm let's see here:

1) There are Israeli soldiers in all of the Palestinian cities and towns
2) Palestinians have a hard, sometimes impossible time going from town to town because of the checkpoints
3)The Security wall separates families, and farmers from their rotting fields
4)Palestinian children are growing up with tanks and armed soldiers in their streets
5)Israel has now cut off the taxes that it collects for the PA, meaning the "moderate" forces will not recieve their wages, and accoring to Dov Viesglass, Israel will put the Palestinians "on diet"( by not transfering the funds to them), but will not let them them die ! Nice of him ..
6)The Israeli settlers run wild in towns like Hevron, and Arab olive trees are cut down without anything happening to them.

Yep, I would definately recognize a power that is doing all that in my land - wouldn't you ?

The Palestinians have to ask themselves WHY the Hamas came to power - because the Fatah was/is a corrupt organisation. Where did the billions of dollars that the world gave them over the years? Why are their people still living in extreme poverty whilst Suha Arafat is living in extreme luxury in France ?

I am stating the reasons why the HAMAS should NOT recoginze Israel at the moment.

The moment Israel leaves the West Bank, then there is something for the Hamas to talk to Israel about.

Tell Me ANON, would YOU recognize an occupying power in YOUR country
(wherever you live, you remain annonymous!), or would you want them out .

Simple question, give me a simple answer.
